How much space have you got left on your hard drive?

You need a minimum of 12% free before Defragmenter will run......and if you have any large files(such as movie files) you may need significantly more.

SpeedItUp uses the Windows defragmenter....so it's not a problem with the program itself.

i downloaded this but havent seen any improvements,my rig is a p4 2.4 with 1gbddr333 and 2x80gb hard drives.
I have diskkeeper 10 to do the defragging and strangely when you click the defrag "speed it up",diskkeeper runs to defrag the drive.

That's probably because Diskeeper overrides the Windows Defragmenter....lets say instead that SpeedItUp will run the "default" defragmenter,as it doesn't have it's own.

what can I do then?

First try running SFC /SCANNOW with you XP CD in the comp. Also check that these files are not in use when you do a defrag. Check Start\Run type MSCONFIG go to startup tab and remove all quick MS Office start program you do not need any of them, including MS fast find, all these slow your computer down
