Some time ago I wrote in regarding the speed of the Epson Stylus Photo R300(see here. click here ).
I've not actually been using this thing very much, because it is so pitifully slow. When using it as an ordinary printer and printing out normal text docs in the "normal" print mode it was taking something like 30 seconds.
I put this down to it being connected to a USB1 port. (Every time I did use it the warning used to come up that it would work faster with a USB2 connection.)
Today, I went and bought a USB2 card and installed it along with its' software and then reinstalled the printer software because it was now saying that it found new hardware! It now prints at 36 seconds for 56 words in a very simple letter. I have also installed the latest driver from Epson, even this took two times to go in despite the fact that it said it was installed properly but on restarting it found new hardware again!!
What on earth do I have to do to get this thing to wind itself up? The HP930C will knock spots off it on LPT1.
I have XP Home plus SP2.
