Speech recognition software

  algernonymous 17:42 03 Jul 2007

I have been asked to locate some (for transferring text to PC, not voice control) so:

a, does it work and, if so,

b, which ones do you recommend?

I thank you.

No experience of such software (apart from the Windows text to speech facility), but found these:

Thanks, SANTOS7, looks like just the thing.

Perhaps I should have added 'anyone with personal experience of said software.'

But appreciate all responses.

Are you talking about text recognition software - speech to text on screen?

OCR(Optical Character Recognition)software - that scans in text and makes it readable/adjustable in a word processing program?

Speech to text on screen.

Dragon naturally speaking 9 is very good, the more you train it the better it gets. But even with limited training it works well.

Thanks Alan,

Once had a software representative explain the virtues of speech recognition programmes. His verdict was Dragon as number one, but as absent (above) as stated 'it as to be trained'.

if is IS speach recognition you require(?)the the 'dragon naturally speaking' is good; I had it on my comp ; only problem is it does need to be trained to recognise YOUR voice; BUT is a very useful tool;
