Speaker Problem

  golfer boy 21:46 22 Jun 2003

I use Windows XP Home, I have a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy Sound Card, and Creative 5.1 speakers.

The problem is that the PC doesn't retain the speaker settings in Sound and Audio Devices in the control panel and instead of recognising the 5.1 speaker set up, it resets them as Desktop Speakers, resulting in sound only being produced through 2 speakers instead of 5.

I can reset to 5.1 but the PC won't retain this. Any idea as to how this can be fixed.

Thanks guys

If I recall, this can be caused by certain game(s) which 'forget' to reset the speakers back to 5.1 when they exit.

Try using the new beta drivers dated 7/05/2003.

I was having the same problem, but it seems to be ok now with the new drivers. click here

Thanks for your assistance fellas - Jazzypop I don't think it's game related as I am not a gamer.

I will try downloading the drivers PSF and will let you know how I get on.
