SP/Dif What's it for

  joesoaps 16:37 26 Jun 2004

While connecting my new printer to a rear usb outlet earlier today I noticed that there is a single yellow socket marked SP/Dif which I never noticed when setting up my pc last year.I can find no reference to it in the manuals and documentation that came with my pc and a google search produced a mass of very technical pages.
In simple terms what's it for and what can be connected to it.
Thanks in advance --- joesoaps.

Sony/phillips digital interface. I think you can plug things like a mini dik player in there.
