sp2 trouble

  charlton200 17:33 19 Dec 2006

I have recently formatted and reinstalled window.
I saved my drivers form the drivers folder and reinstalled sp2.
I had trouble with my computer straight away.
When I turned my computer off to standby mode then booted it up again , I found it would not boot but freeze on the picture. I then rebooted from the reset switch, to be given the message:-
Hardware initiate failed , the bios does not be installed. Press (g) to continue.
I pressed G to be given a message:-
Reboot and select proper boot device.
I then reboot and it was OK.

This happens every time.

I un-installed sp2 and everything was OK.

Today I downloaded sp2 from Microsoft hoping this will be OK.
But this was just the same.
I need sp2 to run a software program I have.

Any ideas why sp2 will not install without a conflict.

I had it before I done my reinstall and it was fine.

Thanks very much and I hope you have a merry Xmas.

do you happen to have norton installed on your system? It seems to conflict with things like avg etc. Just a thought

But I had that installed before i done a reinstall and it worked ok.

Thank you.

Hi, perhaps if you run RegScrub it will tidy up your registry and fix the problem.

Don't be surprised if RegScrub find hundreds of problems, let it fix them all, only takes a few minutes, or even less.
