Hi, I have recently had a new 32bit soundcard installed into my pc, but when I `run` DXDIAG it says that I still have 8 and 16 bit only on my PC even though now the box reads sound 1 and now I have sound2 it still says 8 and 16 bit in sound2. Is there another way that I can find out if my sound card 32 bit is working even though the pc engineer assures me it is working?

What soundcard is it?
The 32bit should mean that it uses 32bit architecture in the saw way as your computer (Vista 32bit).
The 8bit or 16bit in soundcard terms means it plays back sound in those formats which is fine.
A real 32bit soundcard would be an extremely high end studio piece of kit. In your case I think this is unlikely.
