please help - I have spent about £1.99 on a microphone which won't record sound! The mike works - my friend can record beautifully. But I have tried loads of times and it simply won;t work on my system.

What is wrong? I'm using 98, on a K7VZA mainboard which has an integral soundcard.

Have you checked that the microphone isn't muted on the volume controls?

Double click on the speaker icon by the clock, opens the volume panel. If the microphone pane isn't showing click on Options & then Properties. Next check the microphone box and then OK then you'll see the panel and the box at the bottom of the slider is the Mute, uncheck it!

Good luck
