Could anyone kindly recommend a medium priced set of the above for me .Our pc is used mainly for gaming and recording/listening to music and watching the odd dvd (not an "odd" dvd, just to watch now and again)ahem to move on , my OS is W98se and i,m using onboard sound at the moment with subwoofer and two satelitte speakers .I'ts not too bad but the volume is limited also the range .I would like to know what sort of card and speakers are used by the knowledgable so they can tell the great unwashed .

The Creative cards:

or the more expensive Audigy

do the job for most folks.

A good alternative to the usual Creative surround sound speakers are the offerings from Videologic - eg the ZXR-550 speakers.

And by an amazing coincidence I have a 6 month old set of these speakers available at a very reasonable price.....
