After perfomring a Windows XP recovery (over the top type installation) am i correct in assuming that whilst all the data wil be there (docs ect) programs will need reinstalling?

Or should everythign fall perfectly back into place.

Reason i ask is i had to make a new account

You should be able to delete the new account and go back to the old account. I actually had to do this over the weekend (didn'y know the nwme of the old account, so was forced to make a new one). After I deleted the new account verything was all back hunky-dory to the original configuration, all programs and settings in place.

Thanks to finish off what was being said...

Reason i ask is i had to make a new account and most programs fail to run....

Really? So how can i do that?

Under Users there is Martin2 (martin was the old account) and Guest.

You're saying if i delete the Martin2 account it will resurrect Martin???

How does it know or how do i tell it thats the account i want??

Ah - I had the old account (admin) showing too - So I was able to switch to it and use it to delete the new one. If the old one doesn't show - don't know!
