Im using a toshiba L30 laptop with vista home and I have just updated my sound card driver and now when i plug in my headphones i get no sound , unplug them and i get sound . Any ideas on whats wrong .
It is a realtek high definition audio device .

your new drivers may contain an * Enhanced Configuration Panel* with an option to switch between onboard sound and an external device namely your headphones..

When I want sound on HDMI out put to a HD TV I have to change the sound settings before I load the programme I am intending to use. I assume that when in HD output mode the jack plug out put is shut off (although I've never tried it). Bring up the sound mixer window and see what's on and what's off.

If you are not happy, do a Role Back of the Driver in Device Manager
