Sony DVD recorder and DVD+/-RW format

I have recently got rid of Sky and bought myself a Freeview DVD Recorder.
I normally use the DVD+RW disk format for my PC to save data.
However, when I use these disks in my DVD recorder, sometimes they either don't record at all or play back and freeze.

I thought that I would try the DVD-RW format, and to my surprise, these do indeed seem to play better.
Wuld I be right in thinking that DVD+RW's are BEST used for PC data storage and DVD-RW's are BEST for video?
By video, I mean recording tv programmes off the Freeview service.

By the way, BOTH types of disk are made by Packard Bell, so they are a quality brand (I think).
Could I please pick someone's brains as to whether my above assumption is indeed the case?

Hi Curly,

My dvd-recorder uses dvd+rw and picture quality is excellent, i wouldn't have thought it would make much diff. I may be wrong...
