This is a very daft problem here, When I shut down my PC and switch it off on the socket sometimes its causing it to trip the switch in the house, I have a surge protection socket I wonder if that is the course of the problem??

does it trip when

a) the PC shuts down
or
b) when you switch the socket off?

Move the PC and see if it still does it or use another extension socket to test. I had a similar problem last year where a loose wire in a plug when high drain items were turned on would trip the house. Took about 3 months to find the fault!

Hi Fruit Bat - it Happens when Frequently from the Socket.

Is it taking out the samll breaker (sockets only)
or the main breaker RCD (whole house)

small breaker = high resistance /load

main breaker = short to earth

Its taking out the Main Breaker as I far as I know its quite confusing!!

If its breaking the RCD,i would most certainly check the wall socket for a loose wire !!!

Or as posted previously by Creature of the Nite, try a different extension lead...the surge protector may be faulty.
