Some letter keys on laptop typing numbers

  whisked 09:55 30 Jul 2009

A group of keys in one area of my laptop have all of a sudden started typing numbers instead of their correct letters. Laptop is only 6 months old and all other keys work fine. I have shut down and restarted but just the same.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Make/model of laptop - and, what group of keys? I am only guessing, but perhaps there is a way of using a certain group of keys as a Number Pad on your laptop if it does not already have a Number Pad on the keyboard.

As Technotiger says - you`ve accidentally turned on the numeric key function. Us the Function Key (Fn) plus the Num Lock key to revert to the normal layout.

yes as above on my HP all fn are in little boxes on keys like "nub lk" is what you should be looking for

Many thanks for the responses.

The numbers pad thing was indeed the problem, no idea how i managed that.
