Some keys on keyboard won't work

  DOL 11:19 17 Mar 2007

Just bought a new PC from PCNextday, sadly their technical help line isnt open over the weekend.

System is Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 2.67GHz 1066MHz Processor
2GB DDR2 667MHz PC5200 Memory
400GB (SATAII) Hard Drive with 8MB Cache
640MB PCI-Express nVidia GeForce 8800GTS Graphics
P965T-A Intel Chipset Motherboard
Microsoft Black Comfort Curve 2000 Keyboard & Optical Mouse
Microsoft Windows XP Media Centre 2005

Setup as per instructions and switched it on, booted fine, went through initial stage of verifying Windows and gets to the enter product key stage and some of the keys on the keyboard don't work, so i can't enter the key. have tried rebooting and a different keyboard, scrolllock numlock are off. Have no idea and can't wait til Monday to talk to tech support.

following keys aren't working
1,5,0,e,u,i,o,a,s,l,z,n, the same numbers on keypad when numlock is on, all special chararcters and shift characters on numberline

I would presume that you cannot get into Control Panel - Keyboards to check the keyboard settings?

If this is the case then you may have to wait until Monday...

What type of keyboard? Wireless, USB or PS2?

try with a PS2 board if you can borrow one.

  DOL 11:36 17 Mar 2007

correct on that assumption.

and it is exactly the same keys not working on other keyboard. Have tried the PS2 connection, though only using a USB/PS2 convertor, and when i do that it tells me during boot that no keyboard present. I know not to hotswap PS2, so I am guessing it's not switched on in BIOS but I can't find it.

could try to uninstall the keyboard in device manager and then reboot.(disconnect before uninstall then plug it in and boot)

Boot to BIOS and check "legacy USB for DOS" is enabled and retry the PS2 board.

No PS2 connection on the PC?

thanks for trying but, USB enabled, and can't get at the device manager
