rdave13 We seem to be posting at the same time. Thanks for you suggestion.

I marked this post as resolved, but now I have tried the two options suggested I find they do not operate quite the way that the snipping tool in Vista operates.
What I specifically need is a tool that allows snipping of specific rectangular areas of a web page and saves the reult as a JPEG.
Any suggestions please ?

Try changing the file extension from .bmp to .jpeg.

I did change the setting as you suggest but the Gadwin app. saved the whole page and the Snippy tool does not seem to be able to snip rectangles. It's a freehand tool.
Is there a tool like the Vista tool that can be purchased if this is my only resort?

Gadwing printscreen allows you to take any rectangular size 'shot' from a web page eg.; click here
