SMTP Server not responding

I use Windows XP (SP2) and Orange Broadband, with a Speedtouch 330 modem.Recently, I have been having a lot of trouble with Outlook Express and receive a message:-
"Your SMTP Server has not responded in 60 seconds. Would you like to wait another 60 secs for the server to respond. Yes/No.
I also get an error message "Time out occurred with the server. Protocol SMTP. Port 25. Error No.0x800CCC19.

Has anyone any idea what is going on? I usually have to reboot (sometimes more than once) to get my email working again.
Thanks.

You don't say which antivirus package you're using, Dobba. If it's something like Norton, try temporarily turning off the email checking option, see if that helps.
Or their server could just be suffering poblems at he moment.
