What is S.M.A.R.T. ? I have this disable in my bios but my hard drives are capable in my bios.?
should i enable this or is there no real benefit.?

after enabling SMART in the Bios, it will keep a constant check on your hard drive and warn of any problems.

Switch it on

on boot it it will give warning pending HDD failure.
Therefore give you chance to back up.

slows boot down by approx 1sec

You can enable it in the bios,and it can be a good thing if the HDD is about to fail but its not 100% accurate and there have been cases where performance of the pc has suffered by having it enabled.Its down to preference i would think,i wouldnt reley on it 100% though.

With the problems that I've been having,I enabled mine in the bios 2 weeks ago.Despite everything that the hard drive manufacturer's site,and diagnostics told me,about all the bad sectors and failure very,very soon,the smart feature tells me that all is ok.
Although I've got a replacement Hd now,who do you believe?
