I have just had to re-install windows on my pc as i had a problem with my pc. I switched from having XP media center edition to XP professional.

Since doing this i have problems with my monitor which is noticeable when i scroll up or down. The screen kind of flickers and doesn't scroll smoothly.

Is this a monitor problem? it worked fine with xp media center? I have a Philips 170s monitor.

How do i solve this problem?

Have you installed the monitor driver?

i have the cd with them on but can't figure out how to actually install them, the autorun only starts the screen sizing option rather than an option to install the drivers.

You need to install the graphics drivers. They'll be on the motherboard CD for integrated graphics, or on the graphics card CD if not.

If you don't understand, or need more help, ask again.

Not the monitor "drivers".

this normally happens when the drivers for your graphics card have not been installed so As DieSse says you will need to install them. If you do not have the CD then you will probably get them online

You may also need to check that your monitor's refresh rate is set to 85MHz, the setting that eliminates flicker for the vast majority of users.

This is for a CRT monitor, not TFT.

For a Flat screen its normaly is 60hz
