Small Pictures on Desktop

I'm using my own pictures on my desktop but do not want them to take up the full screen. How do I make the desktop picture smaller and still have it open when viewing the desktop? Using Windows XP Home with SP3

I suggest making a copy of the photo you want to use so that you don't mess with the original.
you need to make the picture smaller than the desktop (pixel measurement) and then use 'Center' and not 'Stretch' or 'tiles' in the Position selection box (you will also be able to choose the colour you want to surround the photo)

The above will make sense if you read this 'how to do it' click here
