Small DOS CD burner

I know a guy who is unable to boot into windows but needs to recover his files. He cant put the harddrive in his other computer because the broken one is a desktop computer and the other one a laptop. I though the cheapest way would be to just use a dos based burner in the broken comp and burn teh files to a cd where he can put them on his laptop. What are some good DOS based burners that can fit onto a floppy disk?

I've not heard of one but that means little :-)

Anyway, he could get another hard drive and install windows on it, then put the old one in as slave and take the data from it.

there are loads of ide to usb converter's out there, I use a similar to connect a laptop hdd or a normal ide size drive to usb.
