Hi, and thanks in advance for help offered.
I have a Toshiba Satellite P100-152, 17" laptop about 3 years old which has recently become very sluggish, taking sometimes several minutes to react to key presses and quite often, recently, impossible to shut down for the same reasons.
I realise you might need more info but would be pleased to receive any suggestions....

Thanks again
Bobbyalec

Remembering that you only use one Anti Virus at a time, Multiple AV installations is usually bad news, so if you do decide to go with Fruit Bat /\0/\s excellent suggestion, uninstall whatever you have on at the moment first.
