slow start up on Toshiba laptop

I have a toshiba laptop which a few months ago started to slow down during startup.
The bios screen comes up and runs through the mem test etc then stops after a mouse driver has loaded, 70 seconds later the computer beeps and normal window xp starts up. There after every thing runs well. I cannot find ref to any mouse driver to be started before windows and am baffled. Its almost as if an autoexec.bat or config.sys was loading as in the days of Dos. I can find no reference to either of these files.

Can anyone help

Have you checked in your BIOS settings to see if the mouse driver is started from there.
