Slow Start Up

  ulrich 09:34 17 Apr 2004

Having solved the problem of not starting at all, I now have a really slow start up. The HD isn't full. I have WIN XP, I've tried system restore.
Any ideas most gratefully received.

You could try using Bootvis click here

I am also trying track down the cause of a pause I get on startup - around 30 seconds of disk inactivity after my desktop is displayed before scanner, firewall and Norton AV start up.

Only odd thing I can see in my startup list (& I've cut it right down) is BACKWEB. I understand this to be something to do with Creative but have been unable to disable it either directly (msconfig) or with Spybot.

Does anyone know if this may be the culprit? If so, how do I kill it?

I'll try VoG's link as well - Thx.
