CAN ANYONE HELP I AM RUNING WINDOWS XP WHEN I COME TO SHUT DOWN IT TAKES ABOUT 3 MINS BEFORE COMPUTER SHUTS OFF ANYONE HELP PLEASE

try this if the above doesn't work.

start/run and type "regedit"

on the left hand paneclick on all the + sign to put every tree back as far as it will go

all that now should be showing is "my computer" with a plus sign beside it

clickon the + sign

scroll down to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

click on the + sign to expand it

scroll down to the "system" folder and expand it

scroll down to the "current control set" and expand it

scroll down to the "control" folder and click on the folder itself

on the right hand pane you will see "wait to kill service" icon

right click on the icon and from the drop down menu choose "modify"

click on modify and you will see a box with the figure 2000 in it change this to 200, click ok then navigate your way out of the registry saving as you go.

it looks complicated but it only takes 2 - 3 mins and reduces powerdown time significantly
