Ever since I installed the dell A920 printer on my windows Xp sp1, its takes longer to completely shut down. About on extra 15 seconds! I installed the software which came with it and it works fine. Any ideas?
I found it - 1) Go to run and type: regedit And then go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\ PowerdownAfterShutdown 2) Change the value from 0 to 1 3) Go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre< br>ntVersion\Explorer\ CleanShutdown 4) Change the value from 0 to 1 5) Reboot the system to take effect of the new registry setting. If the above registry edit doesn't solve the shutdown problem, it may be because of the following reasons: 1) You do not have an ACPI compliant mainboard... 2) You do not have ACPI enabled in the BIOS... 3) The monitor driver that's loaded for Windows XP may not be compatible. Try unloading the driver and load the default "Generic Windows XP Plug & Play Monitor Driver".
