i have a amd 2400+ cpu 52x cd rom 48x cdrw, but when i copy on the fly i only get 2 to 4 times copying speed, if i copy to HDD first i can get 24-30 times speed. I have been advised to get a scsi type cd rom, but cannot find an outlet selling them. Does anyone know were i can get on from. (Or an answer to my problem) we have tried all combinations of connecting the HDD and Cd roms. nothing improves it.

Are both CDROMS on the same IDE cable?

What software are you using?

Try Nero. I have both my drives on the same IDE bus and copy on-the-fly at 12X.

my drive supports x32 but i burn at x4 and use good quality media, and not on the fly, less errors that way and audio especially has a bit more depth to it.

and it ony takes a wee bit longer.
