Slow boot up

  en1gma12 20:00 16 May 2004

My system has started taking a while to boot up. Once booted it runs fine with no problems. I regularly go into msconfig and make sure nothing loads at start up that doesn't need to. I'm running win 98se.

Any ideas?

First go to start\run and type MSCONFIG and look in the Startup tab to see how many programs are running in the background. If you have any MS Office items remove all the tick’s as they are not often needed to run at start.

I have a program that will check the time that each item takes to start at Boot so if you want me to send it post through the little Yellow Envelope to the left of this post

I've checked startup and only the items the pc needs to boot up are ticked. The only program ticked is AVG due to it running a boot up scan at startup. As far as my pc goes, everything is as it should be. I have Sandra on my system so I can keep a check of everything.
