Just a couple of general questions about Skype.

The connection that one family member has out in Spain is,according to - click here - Up : 57kb/s and Down : 64kb/s

So,is this fast enough for Skype?

Secondly a forum search came up with a recommendation for headsets - click here .
Having looked at various sites it seems you can spend anything from 99p to £99 and more for a headset. Can anyone comment?

Thanks.

Skype will tell you if there is a problem. You can use a Skype USB phone about £10

I use a Logitech Quickcam 9000Pro which has a built-in mic, to video chat with my son who lives in Lanzarote (I am in UK). My son uses a Quickcam 4000 and separate mic. Results are excellent. I don't know what my sons' ADSL speeds are.

Personally I don't like headsets, preferring instead to use normal PC speakers and a separate mic.

Technotiger - good thinking! Hadn't thought of that.

Tell me.Is there any difference in the setup using onboard speakers rather than a headset?

No difference. Very easy to set-up using Help>Options in Skype. Don't worry everything has been thought of and is quite straightforward.

Here we go then!

Technotiger - Thanks for your help.
