Skype not working, used for years

I have used Skype for many, many years. Suddenly, it does not work properly, if at all. I have replaced at least 6 webcams, and I do not believe they can all be faulty. I run XP, as I always have. This is what is happening: Sometimes Skype will start, but without sound, or without video. If it DOES connect, other party cannot hear me, and sometimes they can hear me and I can't here them. When my Skype occasionally tries to work, video turns green. I can't believe ALL my webcams, or sounds, can be faulty. Anyone got some ideas, please? PS - computer seems to be working ok. So Far.....

I'll ask the obvious, you have uninstalled and reinstalled Skype?

I suggest you run a full scan with MalwareBytes or similar, might be a hidden nasty somewhere.

Skypem had an update which came through Microsoft a few days ago. If you use automatic updates you may not have noticed. has something gone wrong with the update. I had a problem with my laptop update and had to download a new version of Skype manually. As Chronus suggests give it a try
