Sky by Broadband

Has anyone been able to copy a downloaded film from Sky.
When I try to copy via Nero I get a message that the file extension is not recognised?

I would think that it would be illegal to do this and even if it wasn't I think Sky encrypt the films to stop this, that I would imagine is why the file extension is not recognised.

Sky tell you in the set up for the film and sport downloads that the content is encrypted so that can only play on your computer. If anybody rips the content they are in breach of the terms of downloading agreement *(and pretty clever)

What I record from Sky on my Philips DVD recorder will not play on my PC DVD rewriter but they will play on my Sony multi-play DVD player. But my DVD rewriter will play pre-recorded videos that are bought from the stores, so I assume Sky put some sort of encryption when recorded from Sky as Totally-braindead has explained.
