Most of the sites I try to visit freeze without completing fully or load homepage but cannot get any further ( ebay / bbc / metoffice / banking etc )
Recently changed to TALK TALK another site I cannot access fully.
however speedtest reporting > 7 meg
Have defragged (Diskeeper lite)

Sounds like your PSU.Make sure all your air vents are clear of dust etc.Check Task Manager to make sure nothing is running that should not be.And what Firewall are you using.

Is it possible to briefly disable your firewall, and try again, this will eliminate a firewall setting.

  spike22 17:18 21 May 2007

skidzy - disabled firewall - still only homepage ?!

  skidzy 17:27 21 May 2007

What other programs are on your pc,maybe a setting is blocking you.

Have you tried system restore to a time when all was working ok.

  spike22 17:38 21 May 2007

cautious to use system restore - if it was prior to going TALK TALK would it remove such ?

  spike22 17:45 21 May 2007

if anyone able to read this same thing has now happened in this forum - cpu usage > 50%

  skidzy 18:18 21 May 2007

Sorry been busy, good point, leave system restore alone.

Have a look here click here
and run a few antispyware apps.

If you have the google toolbar or similar installed, uninstall this also.

Remember one antivirus and one firewall only, this i believe you have with your talk talk package.

skidzy - thanks for your time and advice - has improved things a lot . Thanks also to Buteman - have cleaned out vents etc.
Still going to contact Talk Talk re lack of automatic updates.
Thanks again
