Simple Disc Clean Up Tricks?

  Rumpoleofthebail 17:10 24 Sep 2007

My housemate and I share a computer which is so slow now that it's only a matter of time before it ends up in the road...
We both download a lot of music and movies which we want to keep, but we also want it to be a lot faster.

Please help. By the time this posts it may be too late.....

Download - CCleaner install and run it.
If it has not been done before be prepared for a protracted session.
After that go to start/programs/accessories/system tools/defragment the disk.
One more be prepared for a long session
It may be best to leave on this setting overnight if it has not been done before.

Uninstall any program that you don't use.

Also run virus scans and spyware scans as well after running CCleaner.

Once you've done all that, run the Defrager and you should be a lot healthier.

What AV and anti-Malware software are you running?

"We both download a lot of music and movies"

Which is probably one of the main culprits.

Why not save that music/movies to an external media such as a USB pen drive or CD rather than letting it clog up and slow down the HDD?

or get an external HDD to store all this stuff on...
