Shutting down Virtual XP Mode in Windows 7

Since the last Microsoft update my Virtual XP Mode will not integrate my applications and hence allow me to use it. It comes up with a message to shut it down & try again. However, the task bar functions only allow you to hibernate it - which doesn't shut it down. Microsoft Virtual XP Help pages tell you to use CTL+ALT+END - but this doesn't work.

I'd be grateful to here from anyone with a suggestion as to how to shut it down as opposed to just hibernate Virtual XP Mode.

Thanks

Stop Virtual PC process (vpc.exe) from Task Manager > Processes, it might be better to reinstall XP Mode which will hopefully sort out your problems.

Hi gengiscant

That did it! All working fine now without having to re-install XP.

I'm always a bit reluctant to stop processes via the Task Master, in case it 'screws' something up, but since this was a stand-alone process, I guess it's safe to do it.

Thanks for your help.
