Hi There Folks My "old" PC has decided to change the way it shuts down! Running Windows XP Pro - everything working OK except for the shutdown procedure. Instead of the usual quiet "dying swan" act it has now decided to revert back to the old AT type shutdown - Windows logo screen briefly, followed by blackness, then the age-old message "It is now safe to switch off your computer". This message then stays on the screen in the time honoured fashion until the On/Off switch is activated. No problems are being caused because the subsequent reboot does not invoke the Scandisk application. Any ideas folks?
Many thanks to Woodchip and the omnipresent fount of all knowledge VoG for their answers to my shutdown problem. Suffice it to say that, as usual, the doughty contributors who come to the aid of the sorely afflicted have triumphed again. Well done all.
