Shut down problem

Hi - I changed from XP SP1 to SP2. Everything seems to be working okay except my computer will not turn off.

The computer goes through the shutdown procedure until it reaches 'your computer is turning off' then it just sits with that message and you have to turn it off by the power switch.

Any advice how to fix this please.

Hi VoG

Thank you for your help. I read the thread you very kindly supplied me with. In there I found an article the referred to a problem of powerdown - which pointed me to the fact that it was not a shutdown problem, but a powerdown problem.

It also suggested to leave my computer on for longer in the 'hung' state - which I did and the computer did switch off in approximately 5 min.

Thanks for all your help.
