Can anyone tell me why I appear to have lost some of my hd. space. I had a 40gb drive but now it seems to have shrunk to 37.2gb. Where have the 2.8gb gone?

When did you have the 40GB? Before formatting? If so, then it was likely to be lost in the format.

Yes, I guess you must be right. Is there any way of getting it back?

No, no way of getting it back. I don't know the technicalities of it, but a 40 GB unformatted disk is about 38GB when formatted.

In a sense, it is not actually "lost" - just not there really.

If you have System restore activated you will notice that your free hard drive space will vary from day to day dependant on how many restore points are active.

Ok. Thanks for your help guys.

Frank.
