Show/Hide Rows/Cells in Dreamweaver table

Hi all,

I haven't started this yet so I'm going to try and describe my diagram from paper:

I've got a table with about 10 rows and 9 columns. The first column has 10 cells, the second column has circa 50 cells. The cells in the first column are groups, and the second column is a list of products.

eg.

Column one:cell one = column 2:cell 1-4
Column one:cell two = column 2:cell 5-8
Column one:cell three = column 2:cell 8-15

So you get the idea? Please say yes! :o)

Now when the page is opened by the user i want the user to only see the column headings, and the group/rows/headings.

When they click on say column one:cell one it'll expand the contents of the other 8colums in the relevant rows.

The user can click to show and click again to hide.

Is this possible and how would I do it?

Many thanks all.

I'm not sure that it's possible to do what you are saying using just one table. I think you will need to create a series of div tags and expand and collapse them using CSS and possibly a javascript function that switches between different display modes.

interesting.

I've got some other script that opens and closes divs like you mentioned, i've used it on my FAQ page.

I might have to go down that route then.
