Should I/how do I prevent a Microsoft Update?

Microsoft's automatic update service is trying to push an upgrade to my wife's Vista Home Premium laptop. It's called 'Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack Service Pack 1'.

So far as I can see from Microsoft's website, this is an SP1 for MS Office 2007, but my wife only has Office 2000.

I have now prevented the download twice, but I have a feeling that it's going to keep trying.

Two questions:

1. Is there any point in having this SP?

2. If not, how do I stop the update service continually trying to push it on to my wife's computer?

Many thanks for any advice.

Does you wife have the compatibility pack that allows her to open Office 2007 documents in earlier versions of Office? If so, I think that she needs this.

Yes, VoG™. If you mean the free MS download called FileFormatConverters, then she does have that.

So I guess I should let the update happen.

Many thanks for the advice.
