Should I upgrade my PSU/Motherboard before my CPU?

Hi there,

I've been wanting to upgrade my cpu for a long time now from the amd fx 4130 to the fx 8350. The only problem is that I have a A960D+ motherboard and I don't know if the power regulator can handle the new cpu. So should I first invest in a better motherboard or is installing the fx 8350 feasible?

Many thanks,

Go to the motherboard manufacturer's website and check the CPU support list for your motherboard.

Thanks for the responses,

I don't know the specific wattage of my PSU but via using CPU ID I was able to identify that the max TDP of my CPU is 125w - does this help? Also, is it worthwhile buying the fx 8350 or should I look to other CPUs? - I use my PC exclusively for gaming.

Thanks again,

From CLICK HERE it looks like both CPU's use the same power

Mobo's/CPU's are 'made for each other There for in my view best purchased as a board/CPU/memory package Psu's and its board connectors to match the board is. Also an imperative.

Look at Novatech site save head aches and money look at of of their bundles.
