shell32.dll file corrupted-what next

I am running ME and had a problem with shell32.dll file message?
I used a start up disk to correct it and now computer starts and runs OK.
Problem is I was running BT Broadband and cannot remove and re-install drivers etc.
Have spoken to BT who passed me on to another contact who seemed lost and could not advise me!
They have advised a new format of the drive and a re-load of all my software.
I do not have ME disk as software was pre-loaded when I purchased the computer.
Do I need to buy ME disks and if so what version, or is there another way around the problem?
