Okay here's what i have.

A desktop (XP)with NTL broadband
A Laptop (XP)
A broadband router
A USB adapter which plugs into the laptop.

Here's my problem,

When i try to connect to the internet on the laptop it comes up with this error message (word for word)

Error Message as follows:

FORBIDDEN

You were denied access because:

Access denied by access control list.

End of error message.

Now i know the laptop is connected because i try an ipconfig from a CMD prompt and the gateway address is there, it also downloaded the updates from microsoft automatically.

So what do i need to do to connect to the internet and what is an Access control list.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried a Google search on this?

but i tried the search and the results went over my head, way over.

As for the set up, this is fine, the problem is it won't connect on the laptop due to an access list.

I'm sure there's a way around this but quite simply and by chance this morning, I had two computers both using the same provider on BB but different accounts and running.

Though only one was meant to be "on the net at a time". neither would go online while the other was connected to BT.

I use NTL BB with three PC's connected to a wired Linksys BEFSR41 4 port router so not all that familiar with the BT setup on ADSL. There is a bit

I do not experience any trouble with any PC accessing the internet independently using a router.
