If have/am having a lot of trouble with FireFox of late currently it is displaying a bare window with [thankfully] all the bookmarks in version 2.0.06 - where as the latest incarnation will not show booksmarks or run the bookmark facility.

I thought it may then be time to run SFC /scannow to see what that will do.
So I did.
And all I got was a quick 'flash' of the command line box- then nothing just the desk top.

Is this an indicator of something dire?

take a look at the rgistry entry in:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Setup\ServicePackSourcePath

This should be pointing to the location C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles (assuming C:\ is the boot drive.)

Start / run and type CMD

Then copy and paste

SFC /SCANNOW

And enter

Though i doubt this will cure your Firefox issue,it looks like your Firefox profile maybe corrupt.
