sfc /scannow problem

  haggis ok 12:08 20 Nov 2006

I have tried to run scannow and keep getting a message:
files that are required for windows to run properly must be copied to the DLL Cache.
insert your windows xp home edition cd rom now.

I press retry and then recieve this message
the CD you provided is the wrong CD
please insert the windows xp home edition CD-ROM
into your CD rom drive?
I have tried this several times over and even if I skip the file it comes back again ?
my xp disk is genuine obviously,so how can I fix this?

It's something to do with SP2 files and there is a fix on the Microsoft site.

It didn't work for me though.

I had the same thing i found the solution was to slipstream SP2 and windows XP and then install from that cd.

If you only have the original XP cd,and install SP2 it changes files so windows expects to see an SP2 cd.

Just one small point. If you have two optical drives, make sure you use the D drive for the XP disk.
