sfc /scannow

I Have an HP Media Center PC running Windows XP Home Edition with SP2 installed but whenever i try to run the System File checker "sfc /scannow" i fail everytime because i don't have an SP2 Disk. Have been advised to get the SP2 disk but does anyone know where and how much this will cost? Thanks all. Kwikmann

SP2 is free. Just email Microsoft and ask them to send you a disc or download it from their website

Had the same prob, copying the I386 and changing the registry to your drive(C?) as per link from
VoG™ worked a treat and now it just does the job.

If you have a recovery disc you should be able to find I386 on it.

My recovery disc works from Images so he may be in that position no I386

Sorry meant recovery disc as supplied with the system if any, usually a thinly disguised Windows disc. I think yours has been made with something like True Image or Ghost.
