Setting keyboard to the UK setting in Windows XP!

  CurlyWhirly 21:52 22 Jan 2005

My sister has today bought a new keyboard as her old one was playing up!
It is only a minor niggle but when she presses the @ key to post an e-mail, another character comes up on the screen!
This is getting on her nerves! LOL
I told her to go to CONTROL PANEL > REGIONAL AND LANGUAGE OPTIONS > LANGUAGES > DETAILS to see whether the keyboard was set to English(UK).

It was set to the US so after changing it to English(UK), she pressed Apply and then had a message on screen saying "Please restart to save new settings."

She did this but the keyboard is STILL not properly configured!
Does anyone know what she could try next please?

Check out the manufacturers web site maybe for latest drivers?

What make is it?

Turn keyboard upside down and vacuum it with a brush attachment too to ensure it's all working nicely. Watch you don't pull the keys off though!

I don't know what make the keyboard is as she has logged off now for work in the morning!
I will expect a reply sometime TOMORROW as I have just asked her this very question!
Thanks for the advice and I will follow it up tomorrow!

Try left alt+shift to toggle between UK and US as there may be both versions loaded in the service.

I will certainly get her to try this tomorrow!
It seems funny that I NEVER had any of this trouble when I bought a new keyboard for my PC around 18 months ago!
Thanks for your advice by the way, much appreciated.

Yes, probably a simple feature such as holding down a key at the same suggested above
