Setting IE as my default browser

My PC uses XP (including Service Pack 2). The BT Yahoo Browser set itself up as my default browser with my broadband ISP set-up. I've tried to change my default browser to IE by selecting 'Tools', 'Folder Options' and 'File Types' in Windows Explorer. I select 'HTM' (or HTML), press 'Change' and select IE from 'Recommended Programs' plus 'Always use the selected Program to open this kind of file' then press 'OK'. Although at the Files Types screen the IE icon is shown, the Apply button is greyed out so I can't confirm the change.

Start Internet explorer then tools | internet options | program tab | put a tick in IE should check to see if its the default browser. Close IE and then open it again you should now be asked if you would like to make IE the default browser
