Set width of list menu in web form

Anyone know how to do this?

Standard drop down menus in a form - I want them all to be the same width if possible but by default they take their width from the length of the option with the most letters.

If I need to use javascript or similar I'll probably not bother, just interested as I've never come across a way.

If you need to make the drop down box bigger, try seperating the list by using -------------------------
Set the dashes to the same width as the other boxes.

If you need to make it smaller, try using css to shrink it.

create a .stylemenus
set the width, font size, colour etc.

I thought of that using blank spaces, but I like your separator idea better. I'll give it a bash.
