set printer to switch on when click "Print"

I have a new printer - Canon Pixma iP4300.
My previous Canon BJC 3000 was set so that it switched itself on when i sent a print job and switched itself off afterwards. I can't rememebr how this was done and I can't find anything in the on-line manual for the iP4300, but I've jsut found an "enable auto power on" option in the settings; can other users of this printer confirm that this will achieve what I want.

but it sounds like it, and there's an easy way to find out, isn't there?

I don't use this printer but I do use another Canon model.

If you've found the auto power on option, there should also be an auto power off option which will allow you to set when it powers off (usually xxx minutes after last use).

thanks; yes, it does work (and FE is quite right!)

a BJC3000 until it went belly up on me over 5 years ago... I've had a Canon S630 since then which has been brilliant...

As a result of this thread I've investigated the properties dialogue and lo and behold an auto power option. I'd never investigated before. Brilliant. I wish I'd known it was there before!
