My Epson Stylus Photo R300 has started displaying a Service Required notice and telling me 'that Parts inside your printer are near the end of their service life.' The Epson site is relatively unhelpful and effectively suggests that there might be a discount on an exchange model. As far as I am concerned the printer is working well and I have no desire to change it as I have a large supply of ink cartridges for it. How seriously do I take this notice ? Is there away of getting rid of this notice ? How does it know parts are 'nearing the end of their service life' ?
